Action Deafness (AD) Community is a team of people working together to provide a service to the community of Deaf, deafened, Hard of Hearing and Deaf-blind people. AD Community is based in Leicester but our clients in the Midlands region. We have a pool of staff in regional areas. All staff are DBS checked, and most of the staff in the team are deaf with BSL or speech and our hearing staff are BSL Level 2 users. AD Community aims to promote and encourage our clients to become as independent as possible. AD Community delivers specialist community support services allowing our clients' access to local communities, facilities, services, information and opportunities. we work together with our clients supporting them to learn and practice the everyday living skills required to achieve their full potential. we pride ourselves on enabling our clients to lead enriched lives whilst developing the confidence to enjoy and achieve. Our client groups are those who: :Are deaf, deafened, hard of hearing and deafblind and who might also be experiencing mental ill health for example schizophrenia :Have a learning disability, Asperger's syndrome, ADHD and autism :Have other medical conditions such as stroke :Have physical disabilities :Have dementia :Are elderly or young :Are young parents :Are refugees and asylum seekers :Have been involved in substance misuse and require addiction support :Have a history of offending and need support to adjust to life in the community. Our Community Support provides: :Support in your home or in the community :Accessing information and updating news :Assist with communication :Support to get out and about-shopping, visiting friends, accessing clubs :Access to leisure and recreational activities :Support to set up/maintain your home/tenancy :Support/signposting to assist with managing finances/welfare benefits :Support to help you settle back home after a stay in hospital :Access to education, training and employment :Developing life skills Our services can be commissioned directly from Social Care Services via Direct Payments or private funding.
