Details of Organisation and Service

Inspirative Arts provides arts therapies and therapeutic arts for children and adults with:
• Learning and physical disabilities;
• Autism and other communication disorders;
• Emotional and/or behavioural difficulties;
• Mental health issues.

We also support people who care for friends and family members with additional needs.
We support individuals by using Creative Expressive Therapies which uses the creative process of art, drama, dance and music for personal and emotional development.

Whilst our sessions are fun and engaging, they also serve a deeper purpose. Working with such skilled professionals means that with us the arts are a vehicle self-expression, personal development, resilience and healing. Our focus is on achieving individualised outcomes for each person taking part, not making great art work or learning a craft.

We work in one-to-one and small group settings either in the individuals own home or at our establishment in Derby city centre. We focus on individual's strengths adapting all our activities and techniques to the person which creates a meaningful experience. The sessions aim to stimulate creativity and imagination, improve wellbeing, increase interaction, develop self-esteem and confidence and empower individuals.

Why the Arts?
Creative Expressive Therapies is both fun and powerful because it encourages individuals to discover their own creativity. It is through this creative process that individuals' awareness expands, their imagination develops and the space to express freely evolves along with self-confidence. Arts activities can be focused on specific themes to help educate or develop positive change - or non-focused to create freedom of expression. As well as providing different forms of communication and helping individuals to feel involved in the session, the experience has many benefits beyond the workshops, like reducing behavioural difficulties and increasing confidence and self-esteem. The experience also takes the focus away from social pressures and barriers, developing confidence in social settings.
