Details of Organisation and Service

Based in Derbyshire we work right across the region to support children, young people and adults with autism and other disabilities, as well as their families and carers. We are a team of experienced professionals and volunteers, overseen and managed by a committee of trustees, many of whom are parents or carers of someone with an ASC.

DAS is a friendly and caring organisation and provides support, advice, information and training. We make sure that decision makers and funders are always made aware of the impact that their decisions have on people with autism and their families and carers.

We fight to make sure that people with autism get the very best opportunity to make the most of their lives.

As specialists in autism we are unique in the targeted support we deliver, which include:
1:1 support; social and leisure opportunities; group events as well as trips out and about.
We are also on hand to offer information, advice and guidance to parents and families, as well as liaison with other professionals and organisations, such as schools, colleges and employers.
For more information please contact our service coordinators.

Fun with others at one of our Saturday clubs, playing games, doing craft activities, going to the cinema or just relaxing
Visits and trips out to places close to home and further afield
Time to talk about anything and everything with people who understand and have the time to listen

Working with adults…

Social groups to meet up with other like minded people
Opportunities to go out 1:1 to improve community life skills
Support, help and guidance to find a job Support in the workplace Advocacy when working with other organisations, such as the police and the judicial system

Supporting families...

For the family of a child or adult with autism, just knowing that he or she is out and about having fun, with caring people, trained and experienced in meeting their needs, is often enough to give them a breather from the day to day challenges of life and perhaps the chance to relax and spend some time together and with other family members.

For more targeted support we can:
Offer advice and guidance on working with schools and colleges
Help through tribunals and reviews
Support through the process of applying for funding
Make people aware of the latest developments and support available
